Miamax’s HALLOWEEN series will be a “complete reset” of the franchise; What would your proposal be?

Last year we learned that Miramax would be developing a Halloween cinematic universe that will include both a TV series and film. When this was initially announced, the TV series was already in the works. It was explained that the series “is slated to potentially launch a cinematic universe spanning film and television.”

Miramax head Marc Helwig recently offered an update on the series and shared what we can expect from it, saying that it will be a complete reset of the franchise:

“The foundation is the original film, the John Carpenter film, the characters from that film, and maybe a group of characters that we haven’t focused on much in recent theatrical releases or even some of them.

“This is a complete creative reset and a return to the original film, rather than straying from any of the more recent film adaptations.”

Helwig also notes that the project is “on a fast track” and says:

It’s a big priority for us. We’ve had a lot of exciting conversations over the last few months with a number of really talented people and I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to do very soon. Hopefully we can lock down the creative team very soon.”

While I will always love the Halloween franchise, especially the original film, the whole thing is just boring now. Even though this will be a creative reset, it will still eliminate the same things we’ve seen from the franchise over the years. I wish they would stop and give the franchise a long break before trying to do something new with it.

The creative team will really have to do something special and out of the box with this thing to get audiences interested. It would be a shame if it ended up being more of the same.

Are you excited about the plans for this Halloween reboot? If you were given the opportunity to reset the franchise, what would your proposal be?
