New Regeny is developing a film adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game watch dogsand the star behind the hit horror film Speak with me, Sophie Wildewill be the protagonist of the film.
The film is said to be set in the universe of Ubisoft’s hit video game franchise, and is directed by Mathieu Turi (Hostile), from an original screenplay written by Christie LeBlanc ( Oxygen).
There are no details to share regarding the film, but the original game’s story is set in a fictionalized version of Chicago, Illinois. It centers on the character of Aiden Pearce, a highly skilled hacker seeking revenge after a tragic event involving his family.
All games are set in fictionalized versions of real-life cities, at various points in time, and follow different hacker protagonists who, despite having different goals to achieve, find themselves drawn into the criminal underworld of their respective cities. The villains of the story are corrupt companies, crime bosses and rival hackers who exploit the ctOS (central operating system), a fictional computer network that connects all the electronic devices in a city into a single system and stores the personal information of most of citizens. .
This isn’t the only game project Turi is working on, he’s also writing and directing a television adaptation of the narrative video game A Plague Story: Innocence.
