Hugh Grant plays Tony the Tiger in Jerry Seinfeld’s FROSTED

Jerry Seinfeld has been in the production of his next film project Frosted, which will tell the story of the creation of Pop Tarts. The film’s cast was announced a couple of years ago, and Hugh Grant he was among them.

Today we learned that Grant will be taking on the role of cereal mascot Tony the Tiger, and you can see a preview photo of him in the film above. The man behind Tony the Tiger is described as “a disgruntled Shakespearean actor who, much to his chagrin, finds himself having to don Tony the Tiger’s suit”.

During an interview with Empire, Seinfeld spoke about Grant’s casting: “That was the biggest part of the whole thing, honestly. Because I’m a huge fan of him. [Hugh] asked me if it matters that Tony the Tiger has a British accent. I told him, ‘No, who cares?’”

Seinfeld also commented on the rest of the cast, saying, “Everyone I asked said ‘yes,’ so we ended up with this crazy cast.”

The full cast of the film includes James Marsden (Sonic the Hedgehog 2), Melissa McCarthy (ghost Buster), Jim Gaffigan (Linoleum), AND Amy Schumer (Life and Beth). They will be reached by Cristiano Slate (Doctor Death). Jack McBrayer (Hello, Jack! The show of kindness), Tom Lenon (Reno911!), Adriano Martinez (iGilbert), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday night live), Max Greenfield (The neighborhood), AND Sara Cooper (Sarah Cooper: It’s okay).

Seinfeld will also star in the film and make his directorial debut with it. The film is inspired by a joke Seinfeld told in his Netflix comedy special about the shocking invention of the Pop Tart, which turned his world upside down. He wrote the screenplay with Spike Feresten.

The film is described as “a story of ambition, betrayal, sugar and menacing milkmen”. The story is set in 1963 Michigan and will “see how sworn cereal rivals Kellogg’s and Post race to create a dessert that will change the face of breakfast forever.”

I’m excited about this movie!
