The final destination the franchise is resurrected with a sixth titled film Final destination: Stirpi. The film recently started production and the producer Craig Perry shared the following statement on social media, saying:
“After a long and tiring hard work during the pandemic and strikes, the first day is finally ready. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment of the franchise. Honoring the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing.
“See you next year! PS: I know, I know – Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years and we’re keeping it… for now.”
The next chapter of the franchise will be directed by Zach Lipovsky AND Adam B. Stein (Strange). Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick he previously offered an interesting preview last year, saying:
“This movie dives into the movie in such a unique way that attacks it from a different angle, so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s a cool setup and then there’s going to be a wrinkle that can potentially save everything you’ve got. .” I have to make a moral choice or take action to resolve it.’ There’s an expansion of the universe that… I’m very careful about.
“It kind of brings out a deep layer of the story that, yeah, makes it really, really interesting.”
He added that they will change things up a lot as the story won’t involve the formula that the franchise beat to death in the first five films.
“I will say that it won’t just be another kind of ‘let’s create a group of people, they cheat death, and then only death gets them.’ And there’s a feature that we’ve added to each movie to change it up a little bit: This is… a real Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve established. .”
I’ve enjoyed a few films in this franchise, but the first one was the best. I’m curious to see how this sixth film will reinvent things. One thing we know about the story is that Tony Todd will return to the franchise as William Bludworth and it will focus on first responders.
The film is also said to “dig into Bludworth’s past, including a flashback to his childhood that reveals more about his connection to death.”
