Hilarious trailer for the third season of the HBO comedy HACKS, which will finally return in May

HBO has released a hilarious teaser trailer for the third season of their comedy series Tricks, which will finally return this May. The teaser features Deborah (Jean Smart) and its sassy young comedy writer, Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder), discussing Deborah’s “more problematic material” that is “gaining traction”.

In February 2023, production on the third season was suspended after Smart, who won two Emmys for her portrayal of Deborah Vance, underwent heart surgery. Then with the strikes last summer the show was further postponed. Now we finally have a release date for the next episodes and a teaser to give us a taste of the comedy we can expect this season.

The season diary reads: “A year after the split, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) is riding the success of her standup special while Ava (Hannah Einbinder) seeks new opportunities in Los Angeles.”

Smart and Einbinder join together in the new season, returning as co-protagonists Carl Clemons Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Marco Indelicato, Rosa AbdoAND Lorenzo Izzo. Megan Stalter AND Paul W. Downs they will also return and have been promoted to series regulars. The third season will also feature appearances by Elena Caccia (Crazy about you), Cristina Hendricks (Mad Men), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal), George Wallace (Tabula Rasa), AND Tony Goldwyn (Scandal).
