We’re finally in the year where Community: the film will return to the set of Greendale Community College to shoot the film he has been waiting for for a long time. Star Joel McHale told Deadline this week that the script is written, and while he hasn’t read it yet, he’s more than happy to share some story details.
“Let’s go to the center of the earth,” he joked. “It’s like the movie The center.” McHale’s co-star, Donald Glover recently revealed that the film centers on “a college reunion.” Abed Nadir, former film student at Greendale Community College, played by Danny Pudinow he’s “this great director” and the Peacock movie we’ll be watching is “his magnum opus.”
In all seriousness, McHale said, it is his belief that the Community the film will be shot “this year”. He will be “shocked,” she said, if that doesn’t happen. “But I really think it will happen this year, and probably next week. It basically works on Donald’s schedule.
Peacock has officially announced the Community film in 2022, enlisting the show’s creator, Dan Harmon AND Andrea Guest to write the screenplay. McHale said during a January 2023 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that filming would begin in June last year, although those plans fell through during a double-strike summer.
In addition to McHale, cast members returning for the film include Pudi, Glover, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken JeongAND Yvette Nicole Brown.
