James Gunn Reveals New SUPERMAN: LEGACY Title and Official Suit Logo Look

James Gunn he announced it Superman: Legacy has a new title and that title is just… Superman. He also shared a photo showing fans their first official look at the logo on Superman’s suit.

Gunn shared this information as production began on the film, and the photo was accompanied by the following director’s note:

I’m thrilled to announce the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which coincidentally and unplannedly happens to be Superman’s birthday.

When I finished the first draft of the screenplay, I titled the film Superman: Legacy. When I closed the final draft, it was clear that the title was SUPERMAN. We will arrive to you in July 2025.

Well, I hope Gunn makes a great Superman movie! That’s all I want, a great movie you tell, a great, fun, emotional story. A story that also uplifts and inspires. I think Gunn has what it takes to make a great Superman movie and I can’t wait to see the story he tells!

Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Superman: Legacy stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, María Gabriela de Faría in the role of Angela Spica, known as The Engineer, Sara Sampaiolike Eva Teschmacher, and Terence Rosemore as Otis.

Superman: Legacy will launch the cinematic portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
