It’s been a few years since we last heard an update on the reboot The naked gunWhich Liam Neeson he is destined to act. Family Guy Creator Seth MacFarlane he’s directing the remake, and even though it seemed to have faded away as the years went by, Paramount Pictures recently gave it a release date, so it needs to move on!
The original film followed Leslie Nielsen as the slapstick/deadpan Los Angeles detective Frank Drebin as he stumbled upon various crimes, getting himself into hilarious situations. Based on the short-lived parody series The police team! broadcast on ABC in 1982, the film series was infinitely more successful, resulting in two sequels that became solid box office hits. With all the nostalgia that comes with rebooting previous hit titles, it was only a matter of time before Paramount went back. The naked gun.
Akiva Shaffer (Hot rod, Popstar: Never stop, never stop) will direct the film, as well as serve as executive producer and co-writer of the screenplay Dan Gregor AND Douglas Man.
Neeson had previously worked with MacFarlane when they starred in this film A million ways to die in the Westas well as Neeson’s cameos in Ted 2 and an episode of The Orville, so the couple goes back a long way and know they would work well together. I think Neeson will be great in this film, and he’s just the person to live up to the level of comedy the star brought to the screen in the original film. Leslie Nielson.
