Brian Michael Bendis is developing the JINX, MURDER INC. shows. and PEARL for Prime Video

Comics author Brian Michael Bendis has partnered with Amazon in a first-look deal and already has three projects in development. Such projects include adaptations of his previous work, including Jinx, Murder Inc.AND Pearl. These all sound like great projects, and there’s some solid talent currently working on developing them.

Jinx is “a crime-filled love story that takes place during a high-stakes treasure hunt, according to Amazon’s series description. Our players are: Jinx Alameda, a bounty hunter at the top of her game who is tired of her dirty life; Goldfish, a charming con man and wanted criminal who falls madly in love with Jinx; and Columbia, Goldfish’s loose cannon partner, who has big criminal dreams. Their paths connect when they are drawn into the search for missing mob money – a win so big that it lures them away from the familiar streets of Cleveland, into a dangerous and unpredictable misadventure that will change the course of their lives.

Jinx will be produced by Bendis together with the showrunners Ayelet Waldman AND Michele Chabon (Star Trek: Picard, Unbelievable).

Murder Inc. is set in an alternate world where five families have never lost their grip on the country. The story follows Valentine Gallo, “a new ‘made man’ whose first assignment for the mafia ends in an explosion, sending him on the run from rival gangsters and the CIA, according to the plot. Dragged into the fray is Jagger Rose, a normally cool young hitman who’s been assigned to supervise Valentine, and who’s also found herself with a target on her back. Just when Valentine thinks his initiation into organized crime couldn’t be more of a disaster, he discovers that his mother is conspiring with the FBI and has promised them, since her birth, that he will be an informant. That definitely wasn’t her plan. But for now, he and Jagger must find a way to unite and fight for control of their territory and their destiny.”

Bendis will executive produce alongside the series’ co-creator Michael Oeming (Powers). Tze Chun (I’m a Virgo) will be the showrunner.

Pearl is about Pearl Tanaka, “an outsider among outsiders: a Japanese-American with albinism, born into a world ruled by the American yakuza. She now uses her unmatched skills as a tattoo artist to make an honest living in San Francisco. Everything changes the day she meets another tattoo artist, Rick Araki, and she saves his life. Rick has made enemies of another yakuza clan, and by interfering with their hit on him, Pearl may have triggered a deadly gang war. And worse yet, Pearl has inadvertently revealed to her yakuza bosses one of her deepest secrets: she has a real talent for killing. Now, to pay off her debt, she must become their assassin.”

Bendis is the executive producer Pearl together with the co-creator of the series Michael Gaydos (Jessica Jones) and showrunner Chris Collins (The man in the high castle).
