Dave Bautista is open to playing a different character in the MCU and has spoken to Kevin Feige about it

Dave Battista he’s made it very clear in the past that he’s done with Drax. It was a relief for him to step away from the role of the fan-favorite character, but he’s open to taking on another role in the MCU! During an interview with Gizmodo, Bautista was asked if he was actually done working with Marvel Studios after the film’s release Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3and he replied:

“Ninth. When I said I was done, I had actually just finished my journey as Drax. I still have a relationship with Marvel. I saw Kevin Feige again, Lou [D’Esposito] no later than two weeks ago. And they know I would be up for a role. I love the universe: the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role made sense, I would agree. I just wish I had the opportunity to play a bigger role, a different role. Maybe a deeper role. I would love the opportunity to play as a sinister villain in the superhero universe. Yes. But never. I am not done. But my journey with Drax is over.”

Bautista did a great job with Drax, but it would be interesting to see him return to the MCU in some capacity. If he ended up playing a villain, I wonder who he would be. He must have his sites on something! There has to be a specific character that he has in mind that he would like to play, and if he has spoken to the top brass at Marvel, he has told them who he is.

It’s good to know that Bautista is open to returning to the MCU, the question is… will it ever actually happen? As for the DC Cinematic Universe and James Gunn, he said, “We just haven’t had the necessary conversations. Now he is in charge of DC. He’s doing his own thing. I’m trying to move forward with my processing. But I’m always open-minded too and I expressed that to him.”

So, it looks like Bautista is closer to returning to Marvel than DC. Is there a villain you’d like to see Bautista play in the MCU?
