Sergio Leone’s classic western ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST will be available in a 4K Ultra HD version

Sergio Leoneis a classic western from 1968 Once upon a time in the West is getting a 4K Ultra HD version! This is one of my favorite Westerns ever, it’s a truly fantastic film and I’m excited to be able to experience it in a whole new way in 4K.

One of the most iconic and influential films ever made, Once upon a time in the West“was restored from the original 35mm Techniscope camera negative by Paramount’s archive team, L’Immagine Ritrovata and The Film Foundation.”

It explains that: “This restoration honors the Film Foundation’s 2007 photochemical restoration, overseen by the legendary director Martin Scorsese matching its structure and color palette. The result is the final theatrical release of the film, featuring the extended 165-minute version restored to its glory.”

The film is “Set in the last days of the Old West, a struggle for control of water in a dusty desert town involves three armed men in an epic clash of greed, honor and revenge.”

The 4K Ultra HD also includes a Blu-ray disc, a digital copy, and some bonus content, including:

Published in 1968, Once upon a time in the West it was directed by Leone, who also co-wrote the screenplay Sergio Donati. Movie stars Enrico Fonda, Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale, Jason Robards, Gabriele FerzettiAND Paolo Stoppa.

Once upon a time in the West will be released in 4K Ultra HD on May 14, 2024.
