Last year we got a brand new one Buffy the Vampire Slayer story thanks to the podcast series Slayers: A History of the Buffyverse, which was actually really good! The series consisted of nine episodes and brought back several fan-favorite characters from the TV series.
The original audio was written by Amber Benson AND Christopher Gold, and it was a success! But despite that success, Disney canceled the series and no reason was given why they didn’t want to renew it for a second season.
Golden shared the news on They provided no explanation. It works. Working with this cast, the production team and the guys at Audible UK and seeing the joy in the fan community has been one of the happiest experiences of my career. I’m sorry we won’t be able to continue, but I’m so happy that we were able to bring these characters back to you.”
It’s ridiculous that Disney canceled the series without any explanation. Although there have been attempts to revive the series, nothing has progressed. This podcast actually managed to bring the story back in a way that fans liked.
THE Hunters The story “begins when Spike goes undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he has returned to his evil ways. But when his cover is compromised by 16-year-old Indira Nunnally (Hayes), Spike finds himself babysitting again. As he tries to track down a Watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never existed and Cordelia Chase is the one and only Huntress. And Cordelia needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… her old flame, Drusilla (Landau).”
The cast included Spike (James Marsters), Cordelia Chase (Carpenter Charisma), Tara Maclay (Amber Benson), Anya Jenkins (Emma Caulfield), Drusilla (Juliet Landau), Rupert Giles (Antonio Testa) and more.
Slayers: A History of the Buffyverse is now available on Audible. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is currently streaming on Hulu.
Working with this cast, the production team and the folks at Audible UK – and seeing the joy in the fan community – has been one of the happiest experiences of my career. I’m sorry we won’t be able to continue, but I’m so happy we were able to bring these characters back to you.
