THE CROW Reboot Movie Will Have a Summer 2024 Release Date and Story Details Revealed

Lionsgate has announced its upcoming reboot of The Raven hero Bill Skarsgard (IT) will be released in theaters on June 7, 2024. The film comes from director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the shell), and also features the singer/actor in the cast FKA Twigs, Danny Houston (30 days of night), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A son), AND Giordano Bolger (The Woman King).

A synopsis of the film also revealed the first details of the story: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when demons from her dark past reach them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric decides to seek ruthless revenge on their killers, crossing the worlds of the living and the dead to make right the wrongs.

Charlotte Koh, Lionsgate’s executive vice president of acquisitions and co-productions, said in a statement: “We appreciate this The Raven The character and the original film mean to legions of fans and they believe this new film will offer audiences an authentic and visceral reinterpretation of his emotional power and mythology. Working with a creative team led by Rupert’s unrivaled visual and storytelling style and a producing team that has made some of the most popular and impactful films of recent decades is a true privilege.”

The film’s producers said in a joint statement: “The original film left an indelible mark on our culture that lives on. We are thrilled to bring a new adaptation for today’s audiences that respects this legacy. Rupert has masterfully brought new dimensions to create a contemporary universe for this timeless saga of eternal love, and we can’t wait to share this vision with cinema audiences.”

Producer Sam Pressman previously said: “The Crow has been a critical and integral part of our company and I’m really proud of the progress and the work that’s been done. I think the film will blow people’s minds. Our partners want to tackle it 360 degrees, whether it’s video games, an animated series or a universe, but it has this cosmic legacy that can expand beyond a single story.”

Zach Baylin (King Richard) AND Will Schneider wrote the screenplay, with the new film obviously based on James O’Barr’s original graphic novel that spawned an earlier film franchise.

The film is produced by Molly Hassel (Brave, terminal), Vittorio Hadida (Resident Evil AND silent Hill franchising), John Jencks (Honest thief, guns on hips), AND Edward R. Pressman (American Psycho, The Crow, Wall Street).
