Lilly Wachowski (Matrix, Speed Racer) has prepared his next project and it will be the first project he will work on in ten years. The film is titled Mountain of wasteand is ready to become the protagonist Caleb Hearonwho is said to be a rising star in the world of comedy.
Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic world) is producing the project and casting is currently underway. The film’s screenplay was actually written by Hearon and Ruby Casterand will lead the project.
According to Collider, the story follows “a gay twenty-something Chicagoan who must return to rural Missouri to deal with the death of his father, an obsessive hoarder who left a house full of items, some valuable and some less, to go to live. choose. It’s said to be a hilarious, warm and emotional script that both Wachowski and Trevorrow immediately engaged with after reading it for the first time.
Trash Mountain will also mark Lilly Wachowski’s solo directorial debut for a feature film, and her first directorial debut since the 2015 sci-fi film Jupiter Ascending. She most recently served as showrunner, writer and director on the two-season series Work in Progress.
Wachowski shared in a statement: “When my friend Caleb Hearon sent me Mountain of waste I jumped at the opportunity to direct it. So beautiful, sad and funny! Queer representation and stories are vital in this moment when we are being pushed further and further to the margins. Our amazing writers, Caleb and Ruby, are a shining light in all this dangerous darkness.”
Trevorrow added: “Caleb Hearon and Ruby Caster are true originals and Lilly Wachowski is a living legend. I’m incredibly lucky to be able to call them collaborators and friends.”
