Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Kraven the Hunter, Bullet Train) will be the protagonist of a new thriller film project entitled Spoletta. He is returning to collaborate with the director David Mackenzie (Hell or high water), who worked with Taylor-Johnson on the Robert the Bruce drama Outlaw king.
Fuze “opens with the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb on a London construction site, triggering a mass evacuation, which serves as the perfect cover for a robbery.” The film’s screenplay was written by Ben Hopkins.
Mackenzie said in a statement: “I had the idea of combining all the stakes of an unexploded bomb with that of a bank robbery – clashing these two genres to create as much pressure as possible in a context that feels as real as possible possible. Ben Hopkins took these ingredients and crafted the compelling script that we are now putting into production.”
Producer Gillian Berrie (King of the Outlaws, Tetris) added: “Together David Mackenzie and DP, Giles Nuttgens are a dynamo. Just add Aaron Taylor-Johnson and we have the Midas touch for this whirlwind film.”
This seems like a solid project for Taylor-Johnson to tackle and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
