Disney has announced that its streaming service will renew the second season of the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The second episode will follow Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) as they embark on a new adventure based on The sea of monstersthe second book of Rick Riordan’s best seller Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, published by Disney Hyperion.
Reordan said of the project:
“I can’t wait to bring the next season of Percy Jackson to Disney+! Raise the anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We are heading towards the Sea of Monsters!”
The renewal comes one week after the season 1 finale dropped on Disney+, concluding Percy’s quest to find Master Bolt.
Percy Jackson, produced by Disney TV Studios’ 20th Television, marks the largest launch to date for a Disney Branded Entertainment series on Disney+. According to Disney estimates, the first season has generated more than 110 million hours of streaming to date. Deadline previously reported that the first episode had amassed 26.2 million views in its first three weeks on Disney+ and Hulu, which also distributed it.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the only ongoing DBT series on Disney+ produced exclusively for the streamer. Three more shows, comedies Santa Claus AND Goose bumps and drama The crossoverI’m waiting for a decision on renewal.
