From Marvel Spiderman actor, Tom Hollandwill take on Shakespeare with an upcoming production this spring when he plays Romeo in the directorial Jamie Lloyd’s West End production of Romeo and Juliet. No additional casting, including that of Juliet, has been announced, nor whether the production will follow the path of other Lloyd successes – including scaled-down stagings of A doll’s house hero Jessica Chastain AND Betrayal with Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Cox AND Zawe Ashtonto name two – with a possible transfer to Broadway.
Holland recently took on the lead role in the Apple TV+ limited series The crowded roomand actually began his showbiz career on stage, when at the age of 11 he landed a supporting part in the West End production of Billy Elliot: The Musical. Eventually she took on the title role.
Romeo and Juliet follows a pair of star-crossed teenage lovers, who come from feuding homes in Verona. It’s a tragic classic and Holland will make a fantastic Romeo. The show will run at the Duke of York’s Theater from Saturday 11 May to Saturday 3 August. Holland hasn’t made a statement about the new part, but he shared the photo below. Check it out:
