Here’s a trailer for a fascinating looking new movie called Accidental Texanwhich has a great cast that includes Thomas Haden Church, Rudy Pankow, Carrie-Anne MossAND Bruce Dern. This is one of those thought-provoking, feel-good films that I tend to like because we don’t see enough of it.
In this film, “Fresh-faced young Harvard student Erwin (Rudy Pankow) abandons his first job as a professional actor when he forgets to turn off his phone and unleashes an explosive nightmare on the set. With his career and cell phone in tatters, he flees the New Orleans set, only to find his car broken down in the heart of Texas oil country. Seeking refuge and some possible phone service at a local restaurant, he meets Faye (Carrie-Anne Moss), a kind waitress who takes pity on him and offers him the local phone book to find a mechanic. Without enough funds to repair his car, Erwin accepts an offer from Merle, a local oil driller (Thomas Haden Church) only to find that he too is nearly bankrupt and can’t pay his bills. With both men in desperate conditions, Merle realizes that their only hope may be Erwin’s acting skills and a little help from Faye’s rifle.
The film was directed by Marco Bristol and is based on the novel Chocolate lizards. by Cole Thompson. It comes from the same manufacturing company that developed it The peanut butter hawk. The film will be released on March 8.
