Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is coming and we have a promotional teaser revealing the film’s logo. This has also been reported Jim Carrey he’s returning to reprise his role as mad scientist Dr. Robotnik, which is awesome! I liked him in this role!
The second film ended with Dr. Robotnik falling from a giant robot to the ground below, apparently killing it. But, in the post-credits scene, Dr. Robotnik’s body was not found, setting the stage for him to return in the third film.
As for the teaser, there is also a laugh at the end, and fans believe that this is the voice of actor Anakin Skywalker. Hayden Christensen, who was previously rumored to play the role of Shadow in the upcoming film. This casting has not been confirmed, but yes, it could be him. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Previously there was talk of the involvement of Shadow, the film’s co-writer Pat Casey he said that Shadow was introduced into the franchise primarily because of his popularity and also what he could bring to the films in the future.
Casey described him as “driven by anger and vengeance,” similar to Knuckles, but the key difference is that Shadow isn’t misunderstood like the red echidna was in the sequel. Shadow was created with the primary goal of protecting the world from danger, but it’s how he does so that will put him at odds with Sonic and his friends.
He continued, “Sonic has never had to deal with someone as emotionally damaged as Shadow… when he sees Shadow, he’s like, ‘Well, I’ll just teach him the power of friendship, like with Knuckles!’ But this won’t work on Shadow.”
In the character’s background, Shadow’s desire to protect humanity stems from witnessing the death of his friend Maria at the hands of GUN. It seems that Shadow and Sonic may team up against GUN for the same goal, but Shadow arrives without knowing Sonic’s intentions, and is worried, having just experienced something traumatic. This could mean a darker Sonic movie than we’ve seen so far, but I think fans are in for whatever the third movie has in store.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is headed for a December 20, 2024 release date. As well as new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Knuckles will also have his own TV show coming to Paramount+.
