Brad Pitt returns to collaborate with Quentin Tarantino for THE MOVIE CRITIC

Brad Pitt AND Quentin Tarantino they will reunite for the third time in the director’s latest film The film critic. There’s no official word on who Pitt will play in the film, but Deadline believes he will take on the role of the title character.

Pitt has already starred in Tarantino Inglourious Basterds AND Once upon a time in Hollywoodfor which Pitt won the Oscar for best supporting actor.

The film critic is set in California in 1977 “and is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and wrote movie reviews for a porno rag.” Tarantino explained: “He wrote about mainstream films and was the second-rank critic. I think he was a great critic. He was cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in Taxi Driver] he might be if he were a film critic.

He added: “Think about Travis’s diary entries. But the porn critic was very, very funny. That was very rude, you know. He cursed. He used racial slurs. But his shit was really funny. He was rude as hell. He wrote as if he were 55, but he was only in his 30s. He died in his early thirties. For a while it wasn’t clear, but now I’ve done a little more research and I think it’s complications from alcoholism.”

Tarantino has apparently done “quite a bit of rewriting” since these details were shared. The report mentions something interesting to think about regarding Pitt’s character Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. They say he “was as much a movie fan as a stone-killer when the stunt work dried up. If Booth went from stuntman to film critic, it would make many die-hard fans happy; like many of Tarantino’s cinematic creations, he is too good a character to let go.”

That would be a very interesting direction to take things in, and there’s no doubt that Tarantino fans would be rolling over this one. But this is just fun fan speculation. I’m really curious to see how this movie turns out.
