Matthew Vaughn Wants to Direct SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW After Milly Alcock Casts Supergirl

Argyle, Kick assAND X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn he expressed his interest in directing Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow for DC Studios after Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl.

During a recent interview with BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast, Vaughn talked about what a big Alcock fan he is, saying:

“I’m a big fan of Milly Alcock. A big fan. I met her about this other project we’re working on – she turned me down, which was sad. She’s a fabulous actress. On the other hand, I find it very strange that they don’t have a director.”

He went on to explain that he’s surprised the Supergirl movie doesn’t have a director yet, because the director should choose the movie:

“That surprised me, because you’re not supposed to cast a movie… the director should do the casting. I don’t understand who cast it if there’s no director.”

I mean, it’s pretty clear James Gunn he chose her because he has a vision for Supergirl and will most likely make her debut Superman: Legacy, which is a film that Gunn is directing. Gunn recently said that Alcock was the first person he saw and who he wanted to cast in the role:

“Oddly enough, Milly was the FIRST person I approached Peter (Safran) for this role, well over a year ago when I had only read the comics. I was watching House of the Dragon and thought she might have the edge and the grace and authenticity that we needed for the DCU’s Supergirl. And now here we are. Life is wild sometimes.

So this answers Vaughn’s question. Self Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow doesn’t have a director yet, maybe Gunn should consider hiring Vuaghn to do it! He clearly wants the concert!

It was explained that the Supergirl movie “is aiming for a less serious and edgier version of the iconic superheroine. In the new iteration, Supergirl travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way she meets a young woman named Ruthye and finds herself on a murderous quest for revenge.

It should be a fun and wild movie!
