Austin Butler on the “psychotic nature” of his DUNE: PART TWO character and new photos shared

I have three new photos to share with you from the director Denis Villeneuve’S Duna: second part thanks to Total film. One of these features Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (Austin Butler) face each other in a dagger fight! Additionally, in an interview, Butler offers some insights into his villainous role.

Butler shared some details and talked about how he found out exactly whose grandson he is Stellan SkarsgårdBaron Harkonnen is.

“Denis described him to me as having a psychotic nature, but there’s also something seductive about him. And he’s power-hungry. I started thinking, ‘Well, how did he grow up? What would his voice sound like?’ How would he breathe? How would he move?’ That was the real fun, when he starts putting in all those details and putting meat on the bone.”

He went on to talk about how he played the character and shared that he chose not to act as methodically as he did Elvis. He said:

“With Feyd, I didn’t think it would be healthy to live in that headspace 24 hours a day. So, I created rituals around that in the hair and makeup chair, where I could start to shift my mind.

“That gave me more freedom to feel like I could go further in the film, because I knew it wasn’t going to get out of hand. Once you know that, then it’s very funny, because it’s so different from me. There’s It was a challenge in that, but there’s something liberating about diving into this other way of being. There were possibilities that don’t exist with other characters and they were a lot of fun to explore.”

It seems like Villeneuve has created something special with the next film, and it will be interesting to see Butler in this very different type of role.

In the first film, Paul Atreides, “A brilliant and gifted young man born with a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to secure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence – a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential – only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

The next chapter of the story will explore the “mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he joins Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of vengeance against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Faced with the choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he attempts to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict.”

Also includes returning cast Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh BrolinAND Stephen McKinley Henderson. New cast members include Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Léa Seydoux like Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub like Shishakli.

The film will be released in theaters on March 1, 2024. This film will be followed by another film titled Duna: Messiah.
