Disney has released a new photo banner from the upcoming Pixar sequel Story of toys 5which features two of the series’ main characters returning slightly changed from their usual appearance.
While they look the same at first glance, after a closer look you’ll notice that the sheriff’s badge worn by Woody in the first films is missing, as he gave it to Jessie in the fourth film. Additionally, Buzz wears a gold star logo Lightyear sticker on his chest.
It’s not a huge change, but it’s fun to see the characters return to action with those little nods to their continuity. Tim Allen is returning to reprise his role as Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear in the film, and recently appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark, giving fans a small but exciting preview of what’s to come.
“It’s a really great story. I can only tell a little part of it,” Allen said. “It’s a Jessie story, Tom and I have to get together, and it’s the funniest thing, because there’s a lot of Buzz involved.
“And there’s a reason there’s a lot of me, so there’s 100 of them in a separate story, and I’m having so much fun.”
Toy story 4 ended with Woody (Tom Hanks) falling behind with Bo Peep (Annie Potts) and the lost toys while Buzz and Jessie (Joan Cusack) returned to Bonnie.
They also include returning cast members Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, Tony Hale like Forky, and Conan O’Brien like Smart Pants. And in the sequel, Bonnie gets a new gadget: a tablet called the Lilypad, voiced by Anna Faris.
Story of toys 5 will be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.
