Oscar nominated actress Amanda Seyfried (Bad Girls, The crowded room) will star in the suspense thriller limited series Long and bright river, which is being adapted at Peacock. Seyfried will also executive produce the project on which he is based Liz Moore’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name.
News of the project leaked after Seyfried and Moore were spotted on a ride-along with police from Philadelphia’s 26th Precinct on Tuesday.
Long and bright river is a suspense thriller that tells the story of Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer patrolling a Philadelphia neighborhood hit hard by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that his personal history may be connected to the case.
Nikki Toscano (The offer, hunters) and Moore will write and executive produce, with Toscano serving as showrunner. Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Amanda Lewis will serve as executive producers for Original Film and Amy Pascal will serve as executive producer for Pascal Pictures.
Hagar Ben-Asher (Bad boy, dead women walking) will direct and executive produce the first episode.
