Daisy Ridley shares JJ Abrams’ advice on STAR WARS: “This is not a movie role. This is a religion.”

Star Wars actress Margaret Ridley recently shared some advice he received JJ Abrams to help her prepare to take on the role of Rey in the sequel trilogy. This is advice Abrams should have taken to heart, especially after how he treated the franchise.

Thinking back to those early days, Ridley recalls Abrams telling her, “Understand the scale. This is not a role in a movie. This is a religion for people. It changes things on an inconceivable level.”

She went on to talk about what it was like for her in the midst of all the Star Wars craziness, saying, “When all that craziness was going on. I was like, ‘I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m doing fine. It’s OK.” And I was fine, for the most part. But I think what I was really grappling with was that it was normal for me, but it wasn’t normal for other people.

Ridley continued, “For friends and family, or anyone who sees something in a slightly different way than you, there’s this projection of you, and of you in that world, and what it feels like to do that and that. And you’re like, ‘Well, actually, I’m just a human being, separate from that.’ It is precisely this struggle, between reality and fantasy, that is often projected onto you.”

Ridley is now preparing to reprise her role Star Wars: New Jedi Order. Ridley spoke about this film saying that it is a new story and “not what I expected” and “something very special”. He also called the direction of the story “to die for.”

The film is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoywho previously directed episodes of the 2022 Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. The screenplay was written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). Now we just have to wait and see if this Star Wars movie will get made or if it will fall apart like all the others. Lucasfilm really needs to get its act together in terms of making these movies.

Ridley plans to begin work on this “in the near future.” Lucasfilm has not announced a release date for the film.
