Gru is a funny new dad: trailer for the animated sequel Despicable Me 4

Illumination has released a new trailer for their upcoming animated sequel, Despicable Me 4. Steve Carell is back as Gru, alongside his new wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig), and added a new child to their family with the birth of a new baby to raise alongside their daughters. They also include returning cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Chris Renaud, Dana GaierAND Pierre Coffin.

The film also introduces new characters voiced by Will Ferrell, Joey King, Sofia Vergara, Stefano Colbert, Chloe Fineman AND Madison Pollan. Ferrell voices Gru’s new nemesis, Maxime Le Mal, while Vergara plays Maxime’s femme fatale girlfriend, Valentina.

The screenplay of the new film is written by Mike White (School of rock, The White Lotus) and franchising director Chris Renaud (The Secret Life of Pets 2) returns to lead the franchise after being away from it for a decade. He was the last to steer despicable Me 2and this time he shares the steering duties Patrick Delage in his directorial debut.

It might seem like an eye candy, but these movies are actually really entertaining, way better than they ever look like they should be, so I can’t wait to watch it, as I know my kids will expect us to watch it on opening weekend. Despicable Me 4 will premiere in theaters on July 3, 2024.
