Netflix axes Halle Berry’s sci-fi film THE MOTHERSHIP due to finish filming in 2021

Halle Berrythe science fiction film project The Mother Ship was scrapped by Netflix. The film completed filming in 2021, but due to multiple post-production delays, the streaming service decided to abandon it.

The film was directed by Bridge of Spies writer Matthew Charman, and the film is set “one year after Berry’s character’s husband mysteriously disappears from their rural farm. Now a single mother, Sara Morse, and her children discover an extraterrestrial object under their house. This (hopefully) leads them to discover the truth about the patriarch’s disappearance.”

The Mother Ship it’s just the latest in a long line of Hollywood projects that will be scrapped once production of the films ends. Some of the others include the Warner Bros. films, Coyote vs. Acme, Batgirl and Scoob! Festive meeting. This is a terrible trend started by WB.

Berry has a multi-picture deal with Netflix and has another project in development with them, an action film titled The Unionwhich talks about “a construction worker (Mark Wahlberg) who gets drawn into the world of espionage by his ex-girlfriend from high school. Netflix is also producing his directorial debut for the film Wounda sports drama about a disgraced MMA fighter who reconnects with her estranged son and reclaims her power.

For Berry’s sake, I hope those films don’t get scrapped. The Mother Ship was produced by MRC, the supporters of Knives outand Automatik were the producers of the film.
