HBO chief Casey Bloys recently presented a roundup of the biggest shows the network is looking to work on this year, including new seasons of The last of us AND The White Lotusas well as a new one game of Thrones prequel series, thanks to the success of another spin-off, House of the Dragon. This new series, titled A knight of the seven kingdomsis set a century before the flagship series and is based on the author George R. R. Martin”Dunk and Egg”, where we find Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg, wandering Westeros while the Targaryen dynasty rules the Iron Throne and the dragons are still remembered, and great fates and enemies await the incomparable friends.
It was previously announced that the show could begin filming in spring 2024, and Bloys confirmed to The Wrap that the show remains on track to begin filming this year, but noted that casting and writing are still in progress. As for other spin-offs related to game of Throneshe reiterated that nothing else has been officially given the green light but that there are many projects in development.
Bloys explained:
“I think with a show like this, when someone reads that something is in development, they expect it to be shot, but that’s not the case. So right now the only two things that are greenlit are “House of the Dragon,” obviously, and “The Hedge Night.” There are many other projects in development but I have nothing imminent to report.”
