Prime Video’s FALLOUT series will use M*A*S*H-inspired storytelling

The upcoming series adaptation of the Prime Video hit Fall It looks like the game is going to be a damn good spectacle and a lot of fans seem pretty excited about it. After seeing the trailer, I think the creative team managed to capture the visual style and tone of the game. I’m also very interested in the new story it will tell, a story that is unique to the series and isn’t a retelling of something we’ve already seen in the games.

During a recent interview with Empire, executive producer Jonathan Nolan spoke about the narrative aspect of the series and revealed that it was inspired by the classic series MIXTURE.

Nolan explained that the series is about “what happens when you outsource the survival of the human race.” He went on to add: “Exactly MIXTURE we can talk about Vietnam through the lens of the Korean War, we can talk about the mess we’re in now through the lens of… ‘What if everyone just got along and destroyed the damn world?’”

Fall it is the story of “the haves and the have-nots” in a world where there is almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle inhabitants of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind – and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully strange and highly violent universe awaiting them ”.

The world of Fall it is “one in which the future imagined by Americans in the late 1940s explodes in on itself through nuclear war in 2077. Fall, the harshness of the wasteland is contrasted with the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy. It’s serious in tone, but sprinkled with moments of wry humor and B-movie nuclear fantasies.

The series is set in future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, will tell an original story based on the Fallout games, and this new story will be part of the games canon.

The series comes from Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan AND Lisa Joyand becomes the protagonist Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Gogginsand more.

When talking about the three main characters of the series, co-creator Graham Wagner he explained that they are looking for the same thing. “We talked about it a lot The good, the bad and the ugly. It’s about three characters searching for a box full of gold, so we asked ourselves, ‘What is gold in this world?’” Tune in for the answer. Anyone have a Pip-Boy handy?

Fall will arrive on Prime Video on April 12, 2024.
