Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney won five awards at the Creative Arts Emmys for Welcome to Wrexhamthe FX series, which follows the duo’s purchase of the world’s third-oldest professional football club.
In an acceptance speech Reynolds shared on social media, he appears dressed as Deadpool and holding Hugh Jackman’s broken Emmy.
“Wow, an Emmy, what an incredible honor,” McElhenney began in the acceptance speech. “There are so many people I have to thank. I waited 16 years for this moment. So I have a lot to say. First of all, I want to thank you very much…”
Reynolds then interrupts McElhenney and says: “Mr. Lively couldn’t be here to accept this broken Emmy, so he sent me on his behalf. Firstly, Wrexham, we love you. Thanks for telling Rob and the other guy your story. Cymru Ben Byth [Wales forever]Female dogs.”
He continued: “I also want to thank the Academy for this honor and for not asking us to attend the televised awards ceremony with the right celebrities.” I would also like to thank FX and Disney for their support and in return Mr. that he won’t ruin my next film.”
Reynolds concluded his speech by bringing up the Oscars, adding: “Watch out, you motherfuckers. Maybe we can get a token VFX nomination next year. The amount of work that went into just Hugh and Ryan’s faces is worth at least a nod.
