Francis Ford Coppola says his film MEGALOPOLIS will be released in a few months

Director Francis Ford Coppola is so close to finishing his self-funded passion project, Megalopolis, that the film will be released in a few months! I have been very interested and excited about this film and when I talked about it during a recent interview with The Accutron Show, Coppola said:

“All I can say is that I love the actors in it. It’s unusual and never boring. Other than that, wait and see. It will only take a few months and it will be out.”

It’s exciting to listen to it! The film has an impressive cast including Adam Driver, Shia LaBeouf, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Aubrey Square, Jason Schwartzmann, Laurence Fishburne, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter, Giacomo Remar, Talia County. Dustin Hoffmann, Chloe Fineman (Saturday evening live), Isabelle Kusmann (Licorice pizza), D. B. Sweeney (Fire in the sky), Bailey IvesAND Giancarlo Esposito.

The film tells the story of an architect who dreams of a utopian version of New York in the near future and his battle with the conservative mayor, who has other ideas about the city. The epic contains a myriad of plots and characters. “The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its social problems in this epic story of political ambition.”

Coppola described the film as “a love story. A woman is torn between her loyalty to two men. But not just two men. Every man comes with a philosophical principle. One is her father who raised her, who taught her Latin in her womb and is devoted to a much more classical vision of society, the vision of Marcus Aurelius. The other, who is the lover, is the father’s enemy but is dedicated to a much more progressive discourse ‘Let’s take a leap into the future, let’s skip all this rubbish that has been contaminating humanity for 10,000 years. Let’s discover what we really are, which is an enlightened, friendly and joyful species.’”

Driver recently said of the film: “The film is wild. It’s so imaginative and big and epic, and it’s bold. It takes a risk and I couldn’t be more excited about it. He also spoke about his experience making the film, saying, “Because he financed it himself, it made the filming process one of the best experiences, if not the best filming experience, that I’ve ever had. There were no excessive conversations, there were no people robbing Peter to pay Paul. He seemed to be in control of the film he wanted to make and that was it. “I felt like, ‘Oh, this is what movies should be.’ And he’s the most generous, philosophical person I know. I loved that process and making it happen with him. I love talking to him.

Coppola also said: “What would make me really happy? It’s not winning a lot of Oscars because I already have a lot of them and maybe more than I deserve. And it’s not that I earn a lot of money, although I think that over time I will.” earn a lot of money because everything that people keep looking at and finding new things makes them earn money. So somewhere, long after I’m gone, all I want is for them to talk about it [Megalopolis] and is the society we live in the only one available to us? How can we improve it? Education, mental health? What the film really proposes is that utopia is not a place. It’s how can we make everything better? Every year, come up with two, three or four ideas that make it better.”

“I would be smiling in my grave if I thought something like this happened, because people talk about what movies really mean if you give them something. If I encouraged people to talk about marriage, education, health, justice, opportunity, freedom and all of these wonderful things that humans have designed. And ask yourself the question: How can we make it even better? That would be great. Because I bet they would make it better if they had that conversation.”

Are you excited to watch Coppola’s new film? I imagine it will come out at film festivals first. Even though the film comes out in a few months, general audiences probably won’t be able to see it for a while.
