We remember the Alamo. Now Alamo Drafthouse will remember it for you.

The movie chain runs a year-long “Time Capsules” program featuring curated films from 1974 to 1999.

Alamo Time Capsules is “a year-long trip down memory lane, revisiting both popular blockbusters and forgotten favorites from six key years in film: 1999, 1994, 1989, 1984, 1979 and 1974. The collections of titles will run six to eight weeks stretch. and , “Rather than function as a ‘top ten list’ of films, they will instead tell their part of this year’s story in film, culture and history,” the chain said in its announcement.

The retrospective runs throughout the year and includes nearly 150 different selections. Time Capsule collections include specialty items, custom Alamo Drafthouse menus and special events.

First, the year 1999 starts with films like John Malkovich, The Iron Giant, Cruel Intentions, Pretty Woman, Jawbreaker, The Matrix, And Lola is running.

“My first job was making popcorn and ripping up tickets for a second theater in 1999, and I was lucky enough to see everything from that wild year in film, from ‘Blair Witch’ to ‘Magnolia’ to ‘ She’s All’. “over and over,” senior film programmer John Smith said in a press release. “25 years later, I’m proud that the Alamo Drafthouse team can bring these films back to the big screen to engage with new generations across the country to share.”

In March and April 2024, films from 1994 will be shown, among other things pulp fiction And Employee.

The Alamo Time Capsules program was developed by John Smith, Jake Isgar and Jenny Nulf of the company’s Alternative Content division.
