The cast of SANDLOT reunites for the 30th anniversary charity softball game

The cast of the classic 90’s baseball movie The Sandlot they recently reunited for a 30th anniversary charity softball game. The game took place in Edgeeater, Florida, which is the director’s home David Mickey Evansand was organized to benefit the Table 2 Committee. The game was part of a two-day fundraising event, which also included meet-and-greets and photos.

The Table 2 Committee is a nonprofit organization that helps support youth sports programs, and this is how the website describes the event:

Southeast Volusia witnessed an extraordinary event that brought fans of the iconic film, The Sandlot, back to the neighborhood’s beloved baseball diamond. On December 15 and 16, 2023, five members of the film’s cast traveled to New Smyrna Beach, Florida to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this cinematic treasure with David Mickey Evans, the writer, director and storyteller who calls New Smyrna home Beach. .

The 5-inning softball game was held at the YMCA of Edgewater and movie screenings were held at the New Smyrna High School auditorium.

Cast members who attended the event included Evans, Shane Obedzinski (Tommy ‘Repeat’ Timmons), Vittorio Di Mattia (Timmy Timmons), Grant Gelt (Bertram Grover Weeks), Marty York (Alan ‘Yes-Yes’ McClennan), and Tom Guiry (Scotty Smalls). A few other familiar faces from Major League Baseball also appeared Giovanni Castino (1979 AL Rookie of the Year with the Minnesota Twins), Jack Billingham (He won 2 World Series championships between 1972 and 1977 with the Cincinnati Reds), and Marty Bystrom (Pitcher who played for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees in Major League Baseball from 1980 to 1985.)

This sounds like it would be a fun event to attend! The Sandlot It’s a great movie and a favorite from when I was little. It’s nice to see that after all these years the cast of the film is still close-knit.
