It was hard at first, obviously, it wasn’t immediately feeling good about everything because what I went through was tumultuous. I don’t wish this on anyone.”
Chris admitted that the consequences for his defense of Rachael were “horrific on so many levels” and “something I pray to God my worst enemy never goes through.” He added: “But having said that, I knew I had to leave what had become a very toxic situation, and I did, and it was a very difficult situation.”
The 52-year-old said he was “proud” of his decision to leave. “I’m proud that I handled the situation the way I did and I still see it as a blessing because it changed my life on so many levels,” he said. “Financially, obviously. This changed my life. “It changed my children’s lives.”
He continues: “It was a blessing. It changed my life, but at the same time I can also be grateful that it’s no longer there. “This is a relationship I no longer need to be in because it was unhealthy.”
The controversy began during Chris’ February 2021 interview with High school alum raquel lindsay. The host defended Rachael when photos emerged of her attending a plantation-themed college dance in 2018. He later apologized for speaking “in a way that perpetuates racism.” Chris soon announced that he would be taking a break from the franchise and left it permanently in June 2021.
