Glen Powell is making his mark in Hollywood, boosting his career with the mega hit of 2022 Top Gun: nonconformistand previously starred in Hidden figures AND The badsjust made a splash with his raunchy romantic comedy, Anyone but you. The actor has just finished production on his next film, Twistera highly anticipated new chapter of Twist story that began with the first film of the classic 1996 film, in which he starred Elena Caccia AND Bill Paxton.
Fans have wondered for many years whether this new film would be a sequel or a remake, but Powell says this new film is a completely original story set in that same world.
In a recent interview with Vogue, the actor spoke about the film and what we can expect from it, saying:
“We just wrapped it up a couple nights ago. It’s definitely not a reboot. We’re not trying to recreate the story of the first one. It’s a completely original story. There are no characters from the original film, so it’s not really a continuation. It’s just a story unto itself in the present day. I don’t think anyone has mentioned this movie in forever, but when talking to people, they said, ‘That was one of my favorite movies growing up.’ That movie terrified me.’ When I was working on Top Gun, [Tom] Cruise brought up something really interesting, saying, “If you want to make movies of a certain size and scope and scale, you have to figure out what can connect with everyone in the world in every territory.” And human beings with respect to weather is a truly universal idea: how powerless we really are in the face of these catastrophic forces.”
The first movie is great and if they make a movie that has an equally great story with what I assume will be even better graphics, I think this movie will be great. It’s funny though, since everyone always complains that Hollywood has no original ideas, I think audiences would have been really happy to see the original cast again (plus Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffmannwho have since died) for a sequel.
