The occult-infused horror video game VEIL is getting a live-action film adaptation

The next occult-infused horror video game from Graewolv Veil is set to receive a live-action film adaptation. The film is developed by the Malmö-based production company Studios Extraordinaires, led by André Hedetoft AND Andreas Troedsson.

Veil is described as “a dark, elegant and deadly world, full of action-horror adventures, based on the occult societies of the city of Velumgrad. Faustian pacts are struck between demonic creatures from a parallel world and ambitious humans seeking divine powers. As the Veil grows in their city, these antiheroes find themselves caught between their ambition, their demonic protectors, and the growing animosity between Velumgrad’s factions.

It’s an interesting concept for a game and I’m sure it could also be made into a good, zany horror movie. Let’s hope the makers bring in a talented team of filmmakers to bring the story to life.

Martin Ekdal, founder and creative director of Graewolv, said in a statement: “We are very pleased to collaborate with Studios Extraordinaires with the common ambition of bringing the VEIL universe to bigger screens. For us it is a natural step towards transforming VEIL into a transmedia franchise, and Extraordinaires is a great partner in this effort. In recent times we can see several success stories where the gaming IP has been adapted to linear, but we see VEIL’s journey differently. Not as an afterthought, something that happens once the game is successful; we are building our intellectual property for transmedia storytelling.”

André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson of Studios Extraordinaires added: “The concept of this veil acting as a conduit between our world and another, allowing Faustian bargains to unfold, fascinated us immediately. It’s similar to a demonic John Wick, if you will. The universe created by Martin and the Graewolv team is unlike anything you’ve ever seen and we can’t wait to bring this demonic action horror film to life.”
