DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN will bring the “Devil’s Reign” and “Gang War” arcs to the MCU

Marvel is looking to expand its presence in the street-level superhero landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the highly anticipated series, Daredevil: Born Again. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Daredevil comics, this new adaptation promises to delve into the political and criminal underbelly of New York City.

Now, scooper site The Cosmic Circus reports some new information. They say the series will incorporate elements from the Marvel Comics story arcs “Devil’s Reign” and “Gang War.”

In the pages of Reckless comics, especially in 2017 Reckless #28, written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Ron Garney, we witnessed a surprising turn of events. Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin, managed to secure the position of mayor of New York City. His victory was not just the product of charisma; it involved maneuvering and manipulation. With his newfound power, Kingpin immediately set out to implement his sinister agenda: to outlaw all forms of vigilante activity in the city. This move effectively put local heroes like Daredevil in a difficult position, undermining their efforts to fight crime and corruption.

The plot of “Devil’s Reign” explores the complex power dynamics between Kingpin and the vigilantes who dare to oppose him. “Devil’s Reign” is a gripping and intense comic book storyline within the Marvel Universe that revolves around the power struggle between Daredevil (Matt Murdock) and Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, who becomes mayor of New York City. In this story arc, Kingpin uses his newfound political influence to launch a crackdown on vigilantes, making their activities illegal. This leads to a fierce confrontation between Daredevil and Kingpin, with the latter using all of his resources to hunt down and eliminate Daredevil and his allies.

The addition of the “Gang War” story arc suggests even greater conflict, as various criminal factions vie for control of the city’s underworld. This story arc is a gritty, action-packed narrative that takes us deep into the criminal underbelly of New York City. In this storyline, various criminal factions, including the Maggia, the Kingpin organization, and the Silvermane crime family, engage in a brutal war for control of the city’s lucrative criminal enterprises. Amid the chaos and violence, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and other street-level heroes find themselves caught in the crossfire as they fight to maintain order and protect the innocent.

Daredevil: Born Again will present the return of Vincenzo D’Onofrio, who will reprise his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, a character he played in the acclaimed Netflix series Daredevil. His commanding presence will be felt again.

Charlie Cox, which brought the titular hero to life as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the same Netflix series, is making a comeback. It will be great to see Cox put on the Daredevil costume once again and kick some ass.

Jon Bernthal is another fan-favorite actor who will be joining the MCU as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Known for his gritty portrayal of the antihero, Bernthal’s return promises to add another level of awesomeness to the series.

The new creative team behind it Daredevil: Born Again includes co-directors Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorheadand have indicated their commitment to providing a high quality series. Dario Scardapanethe executive producer behind both seasons of The Punisherhe directs the series as showrunner. Chris Ord AND Matt Cormanthe original showrunners are also executive producers, ensuring continuity and expertise in creating the show’s narrative.
