James Gunn Welcomes Nicholas Hoult to SUPERMAN: LEGACY and Says You’ll “Never Forget” His Lex Luthor

Head of the DC, James Gunnofficially welcomed Nicholas Hoult to the cast of his next film, Superman: Legacy. Although it had been rumored for months, and was reported in trades a couple of weeks ago, Gunn had remained silent on the casting news until now, as it hadn’t all been set in stone yet. Now it’s finally official and Gunn has posted a photo and a welcome post that reads:

“Yes, I can finally answer, @nicholashoult is Lex Luthor in #SupermanLegacy and I couldn’t be happier. Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate and discuss how to create a Lex that will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen before and that you’ll never forget. “But James, we found out weeks ago, why didn’t you tell us it was true?” Because even though we were discussing it, it wasn’t definitive until a couple of days ago and I don’t want to tell you something that isn’t certain. Anyway, here’s to Lex (and Nicholas!), one of my favorite characters in the DCU. 🙌🧬🔬⚗️”

Hoult joins the previous cast David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, e Maria Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer.

This was also recently announced Sara Sampaiothe Portuguese Victoria’s Secret model, was cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes lover of the scheming villain Lex Luthor.

Superman: Legacy will launch the cinematic portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. Check out Gunn’s post below:
