Disney Studios is producing a third Maleficent movies and Angelina Jolie will return to reprise his role as the iconic villain. The news comes from the Wall Street Journal, according to which Jolie has already signed on for the film.
There is no information on who is developing Maleficent 3but the first film was directed by Roberto Stromberg and the sequel was directed by Joachim Rønning. Both films were written by Linda Woolvertonso maybe she came back to write the screenplay.
I didn’t really like the way this nightmarish villain was handled in these films, but for the most part they were crowd pleasers. I really liked this character as a villain and the movies turned her into a heroine. I get it, but the character was more interesting to me as a hardcore villain.
Jolie previously spoke about how difficult it was to return to playing this character again Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and how her relationship with Brad Pitt complicated things. She said: “It was a difficult time. I had come from a few years of difficulty and I didn’t feel very strong. In fact, I felt quite broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength to [Maleficent] Still.”
Jolie also talked about her early days in Hollywood and how things have changed over the years. She also says that she would have chosen a different career path if the same environment had been present when she started.
The actress said: “I wouldn’t be an actress today. When I started, I didn’t have high expectations to be so public, to share so much… Because I grew up around Hollywood, I was never very impressed by it. I never considered it significant or important.”
She added: “It’s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel freely. I’ll move when I can. I grew up in a pretty shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you’re looking for authenticity.”
