Prince William mourns Diana and meets Kate Middleton in the trailer for the final episodes of Netflix’s THE CROWN

Netflix has released the final trailer for the upcoming installment of Part 2 of The crownit is the sixth and final season. The final six episodes will focus on Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) and Prince Charles (Dominic West), in addition to the now older William and Harry, played by Ed McVey AND Luther Ford, respectively, in the second half of the season. Notable storylines include Charles’ marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams) and William ‘s budding romance with Kate Middleton, played by Meg Bellamy. The first half of season six, which debuted on November 16, primarily followed Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debickiand the period leading up to his fatal car accident.

The logline reads:

“Still dealing with the death of his mother, Prince William returns to Eton as attention grows from young fans touched by his plight. The struggle to readjust leads to tensions with his family, as they try to help another young heir find his way in the system and in the world. Later, when Prince William takes up his post at St Andrew’s University, the ever-present conflict of life as a civil servant continues as he tries to balance traditional university rites of passage with the constraints of his position and the constant presence of personal protection officers. His perseverance is put to the test when he develops a crush on one of the most desirable students on campus: a woman named Kate Middleton.

“Princess Margaret suffers a stroke and is suddenly forced to reevaluate her lifestyle. As her health continues to deteriorate, she finds herself slipping back into her memories, to her secret evening with her sister during the biggest holiday in history: VE Day 1945. The memories of that evening and what it taught her about her life greatest sister, console her in her last days. With the passing of her sister and mother, her Golden Jubilee, and the approval of Prince Charles and Camilla’s marriage, the Queen begins to consider her reign and, ultimately, her legacy. As she approaches her ninth decade, the Queen is forced to dig deep and really examine what is best for the future of the monarchy.”

Other season 6 cast members include Jonathan Price in the role of Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Claudia Harrison in the role of Princess Anna, Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair, Salim Daw in the role of Mohamed Al Fayed e Khalid Abdalla in the role of Dodi Fayed.

The crown creator Peter Morgan told Variety that Queen Elizabeth’s death forced him to change the show’s ending. “We had all had the funeral experience,” he said. “So, given how deeply everyone felt it, I had to try to find a way for the final episode to deal with the death of her character, even though she wasn’t dead yet.”
