We have a full trailer to share with you for Netflix’s next survival movie Society of the Snow. The film tells the extraordinary and intense true story of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes on October 13, 1972. Only 29 of the 45 passengers survived the crash. It looks like a great movie and the new trailer even includes quotes from reviews, praising it.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Pablo VierciAnd the film’s synopsis reads: “In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes. Only 29 of its 45 passengers survived the crash. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they must resort to extreme measures to stay alive. “
The film was directed by Ja Bayona (The impossible, when a monster calls), and previously spoke about why he wanted to take on this project, saying: “I think I’m drawn to these very extreme stories. They may feel dark, but, ultimately, they are very optimistic about life. I think to make life better, sometimes you have to face death. One of the things I love about Vierci’s book is that he is able to put you inside the minds of the characters. It takes you through this experience; It puts you in front of death to highlight life. It’s something you can find in common with the impossible. It’s a very different story, though, and it’s a very different context. The impossible happened in 72 hours. This happened in 72 days and the geography is totally different. One of the things that I think is very special about snow society is that it happens in a place where life is not possible. You have to reinvent your life. You have to reinvent your beliefs. You have to reinvent your link, your bond, with other people. “
