A couple of years ago it was announced that Marvel Studios was developing a Marvel Zombies animated series. This project is said to be inspired by the Marvel Comics limited series written by Robert Kirkmann with art of Sean Phillips launched in late 2005, but the series will take place in the alternate reality shown in What if…? Season 1.
The Marvel star Iman Vellani recently confirmed that she will reprise her role as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, in the series, and her character will be at the center of the show.
During an interview with The Direct, Vellani spoke about the series, saying: “We’ve done everything. It was amazing. It was so much fun. And I love: There are a lot of interesting characters in the Marvel Zombies show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show.
Vellani referenced The Lord of the Rings while talking about the series to explain Kamala’s role, saying, “They described her to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I thought, ‘This is fantastic.'”
The actress goes on to tease the ensemble of characters, saying, “And I get to interact and meet all these people on her journey. And yes, it’s just voices and I can’t hear their voices in real time. But those are just my fantasies, right? Like, knowing that Kamala is going to be interacting with some really cool people, even if it’s just animation, is really special in a lot of ways.
It looks like it’s going to be a fun show, and as a fan of Ms. Marvel, I’m curious to see how her story arc develops in the series.
