Acclaimed horror film director Darren Lynn Bousman (Visa II & III & IV; Recovery! The Genetic Work, Slaughterhouse, My death, Spiral) made a mystery horror thriller titled The cellowhat stars Jeremy Irons AND Tobin Bell.
This is a Saudi Arabian production and is based on the book of the same name by Turki Al Alshikh. The story follows a talented aspiring Saudi cellist. who discovers there is a sinister price for his brand new cello.
In the film, “Like many musicians, the accomplished Saudi cellist Nasser (Samer Ismail) aspires to greatness, even if he feels held back by the old, dilapidated instrument he is forced to play. When Nasser is offered the chance to take possession of a beautiful red cello by a mysterious shop owner (Bell), he finds new inspiration in both his playing and his songwriting. What Nasser doesn’t realize is that this cello has a nefarious past. As he prepares for an important audition with a major philharmonic, that past manifests itself in the form of an ancient conductor (Irons) and the suffering and death of those close to him. Nasser must now decide whether making his dreams come true is worth the horror that comes from playing such a perfect instrument.”
It looks like this movie tells a very interesting story and you can experience it in theaters on December 8, 2023. Below are two trailers for you to check out.
