Universal Pictures is developing a new Jason Bourne movie Edward Berger (Your Honor, All quiet on the west front) in talks to direct the film. The studio has begun early development on the next installment in the Bourne franchise, and insiders say there is no script at this time and that it is still in early development.
If the deal goes through, Berger would be the only forward right now with no other talent on board, but insiders add that Matt Damon, who played Bourne in four of the five films, would be the first to be approached for return to the iconic role once. a script is finished. As always, everything has to be executed perfectly for Damon to even consider a return to the franchise and that starts with a great script and story and then no commitments from him for now until all that is in place.
Bourne is a very important IP for Universal that has brought both huge box office earnings and huge critical acclaim and is always a highly regarded property for the studio.
Berger’s most recent photo, All quiet on the west front, was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won four, including Best International Film, so he would probably be a great candidate to direct the film, as long as he has a vision for making the film. I love the Bourne franchise and would be thrilled to see another film following the character.
