Jason Momoa confirms “This Is The End” for the AQUAMAN franchise but teases his future in the DCU

Jason Momoa recently appeared on Tonight’s show with Jimmy Fallonand when asked if it was true Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may be the last film in the series, he confirmed that “this is kind of the end” of his tenure as King of Atlantis. I mean, unless the sequel ends up grossing over a billion dollars like the first film. But no one expects it.

He then went on to heavily hint at his return to the DCU as Lobo said, “This is kind of the end of this DC universe,” and then added in a joking voice, “There will always be a place for me at DC.”

About a month ago it was reported that Momoa’s casting for the role of Lobo was official and that DC Studio would make an official announcement next year, in 2024. At the time it was reported:

“It’s true: Jason Momoa is Lobo. Done. Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo, and will most likely be officially announced… I’d say around February. He has nothing to do with the strike: he has to do with Aquaman. So Aquaman will have to go to theaters, and then it’ll be on Max… after it’s on Max and it plays for a week or two on Max or whatever, I think in February – maybe March at the latest – you’ll see it. an announcement about Momoa as Lobo, especially if he is part of the Superman cast.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be the final film of the DCEU era and subsequently James Gunn and Peter Safran will inaugurate the new DCU era starting from Superman: Legacy. After that, things will take an interesting turn and I’m really excited to see what Gunn does with the future of DC. I really hope he ends up building an epic DC cinematic universe that will be full of good DC movies and TV projects!

In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to defeat Aquaman once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever, as he wields the power of the mythical Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former king of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must put aside their differences to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family and the world from irreversible destruction.

Jason Momoa plays Aquaman in the film and he joins him Patrick Wilson like Orm, Amber heard like Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role of Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as king Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.

Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters on December 20.
