Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions will produce a remake of Wes Cravenis a crazy horror film from 1991 People under the stairs. Destiny Patrol AND Night sky screenwriter Ezra Claytan Daniels has signed on to write the screenplay for the film, which will be made by Universal Pictures.
I remember seeing the original movie when I was a kid and I loved it! It was such a strange, unique and crazy movie! It’s also a film that I’ve grown to appreciate more over time for its social commentary.
The film follows the story of a young boy named Fool, played by Brandon Quintin Adams, who, together with two others, tries to burgle the house of the mysterious and rich Robesons. As they explore the labyrinthine house, they discover the dark secrets hidden within its walls, including the gruesome treatment meted out to the children who have been imprisoned under the stairs. As Fool attempts to escape before the psychopaths residing in the house can capture him, he meets their daughter, Alice, who has been spared any extreme discipline by her deranged parents. Fool and Alice try to escape.
If you’ve seen the film, it’s not hard to see why Peele would like this film. It’s right in the helm of the horror of him.
