This was discovered recently The maze runner director Wes Ball would direct a live-action adaptation by Nintendo The Legend of Zelda for Sony Pictures. The director recently made Kingdom of the Planet of the Apeswhich actually sounds like it could be a good movie.
As you can imagine, Ball has likely been involved with this project for a while before he officially signed it and has had some time to think about what he would like to do with the project. We don’t really know what his current vision for the film is, but thanks to some of the director’s old social media posts about X, he offers a little insight into what he thought about the fantasy franchise.
In a post earlier this year, he praised the game The tears of the Kingdom for its fantastic story. Then, in another post in 2010, the director said: “Since I could never hope to get the chance to direct it, the next big Avatar-style mo-cap movie would have to be… THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.”
It’s rather strange that at one point I thought aa Legend of Zelda film, but he never believed that he would be the one to direct it. I have no idea if that mo-cap Avatar style movie vision is still something he envisions for the film, but it might be! Recently he has had a lot of experience working with mo-cap in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apesso he has the skills to make it happen for Zelda.
The film is still far from going into production, but I’d love to know what Ball’s vision is for the film. We will just have to be patient for this information to be revealed. Meanwhile, we have these old social media posts.
The Legend of Zelda the film was written by Derek Connelly (Jurassic World, Detective Pikachu) and produced by Shigeru MiyamotoRepresentative director and member of Nintendo e Avi AradPresident of Arad Productions Inc.
I don’t have much free time these days, but I’ve been sneaking in the latest Zelda. The game is fantastic. I knew it would be good, but so far it has surprised me. Really accessible. Great story. And crazy game mechanics. Players like this leave me speechless… pic.twitter.com/2IRsbb7Bcs
