The American Cinematheque Awards honor for Helen Mirren has been postponed until February

Helen Mirren’s tribute to the American Cinematheque has a new date.

The Cinematheque announced today that its annual awards ceremony will now take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The event has been postponed from its original date of November 4, 2023 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

As previously announced, Mirren, who is currently receiving awards for her role as Golda Meir in Gouda cheese, received the 37th American Cinematheque Award. Additionally, Kevin Goetz & Screen Engine will be honored with the Power Of Cinema Award.

It is the organization’s annual fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting the classic, international and independent film programs at the Los Feliz 3 Theater in Los Angeles, the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood and the Aero Theater in Santa Monica. In addition, a portion of the funds will support the American Cinematheque’s commitment to diversified programming and outreach through partnerships with Los Angeles County’s 88 school districts to expand the AC Educational Screening Series (AC/ESS). This series enhances students’ educational experience while promoting the education of the next generation of film lovers.

This week, the American Cinematheque, in partnership with Netflix, launched its $70 million restoration of Grauman’s “Egypt,” a project launched to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Hollywood landmark’s opening.

As a cultural and arts organization dedicated to presenting films, the American Cinematheque (AC) believes that cinema is a communal experience with the power to entertain, enlighten, And to inspire.
