EXCLUSIVE: The unforgettable gala, the annual ceremony honoring Asia Pacific Islanders’ biggest and most influential figures in entertainment, arts and culture, will be broadcast for the 2023 edition, scheduled for December 16 at the Beverly Hilton and streamed home.
Organizers confirmed Wednesday that ChimeTV has come on board as the gala’s exclusive broadcast partner, a deal that will broadcast the show globally and air on cable at a date yet to be determined.
ChimeTV is available on cable through Charter Communications and the Spectrum TV Select plan and can be streamed at ChimeTVPlus.com. Takashi Cheng, Chief Creative Officer of ChimeTV, is also the founder of the Asian American collective Society1.
Journalist Lisa Ling and filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton have also been named co-chairs of this year’s 21st edition of UNFO and will lead the awards selection committee. This year’s event is in line with SAG-AFTRA’s strike policy as the industrial action continues for 118 days today.
“Unforgettable Gala” was created by James Ryu and produced by Character Media. The invitation-only event attracts more than 700 people each year to pay their respects. Last year’s honor roll included Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu and future Best Picture Oscar-winning directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert Everything everywhere at the same time; Olympic champion Chloe Kim; Jeremy Lin; and Steven Yeun, to name a few.
