Hulu has released a full trailer for its upcoming original series The cunning evaderwhich is described as an irreverent sequel to Charles Dickens’classic tale Oliver Twist. It looks like it will provide fun entertainment for the viewers. I’ll try!
The series is set in 1850s Australia and explores the double adult life of Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger. Now he is using his longtime skills as a pickpocket to become a surgeon. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit) is the protagonist of the series and joins him David Thewlis AND Maia Mitchell.
Dodger’s past comes back to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin, “who wants to lure him back into the world of crime. And an even greater threat – to Dodger’s heart – is Lady Belle, the governor’s daughter, determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon.
The eight-episode series is described as “a story of reinvention, betrayal, redemption and love with a twist.” The series was created by James McNamara, David Maher AND David Taylor. He is also the protagonist Damon Herriman, Miranda Tapsell AND Tim Minchin.
The cunning evader will premiere November 29 on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in Australia.
